A journey is not just about the destination! Join us as we take a trip on the ‘Kings Highway to Discovery’. We travel down the Clyde Mountain to Batemans Bay to board the MV Merinda for a delightful cruise on the beautiful Clyde River to Nelligen. The Clyde River is pristine, flowing through over 100km of NSW National Park and State Forests. Enjoy the famous Innes Boatshed Fish ’n’ Chips on board as you sit back and watch the river meandering slowly, each bend revealing the river’s many moods and faces. We bid farewell to the ‘Merinda’ as we alight to explore the historic little river port of Nelligen, where in past times sailing and steam ships plied their trade. Then it’s off to Braidwood to visit Bedervale, a large single storey Georgian home which houses a National Trust Collection. The property was built in 1836 on a land grant by Captain John Coghill and is of great historic and architectural significance. The property is situated in a scenic location with views to the town of Braidwood, Mount Jillamatong and the coastal range.
We depart Canberra and Queanbeyan travelling along the Kings Highway to Braidwood where we enjoy morning tea from the coach in the local park. Then we continue down the Clyde Mountain to Batemans Bay where we board the MV Merinda for our 11:30am departure for our luncheon cruise. Cruise the beautiful Clyde River up to Nelligen where we are met by the coach. We will spend some time in Nelligen before heading up the mountain to Braidwood to visit Bedervale. We enjoy a guided tour of the house that was designed by John Verge, a very well-known Australian architect and was completed in 1842. Bedervale is privately owned but the contents were purchased by the National Trust of Australia (NSW) to maintain the interior collection. The garden is also historically significant as it contains many plantings dating from the 19th century and the orchard contains older varieties of fruit trees. There is also a cemetery on the estate which has historical importance. After our tour, we will enjoy afternoon tea at the homestead, then commencing drop offs at approximately 6:00pm.Booking Request Download Brochure Terms & Conditions
