Visit a grand historic estate, wander through beautiful manicured gardens, and taste the sweetness of local honey in beautiful Bowral.

Travel to the southern highlands to Visit National Trust Property, Retford Park Estate. Here we have a guided tour of the grand Victorian Italianate mansion—once the home of James Fairfax AC. Wander through the beautifully landscaped gardens, dotted with sculptures and vibrant seasonal blooms.

Stroll over to the Bowral Honey Farm, conveniently located on the grounds of the Estate. As a working apiary and visitor destination, Bowral Honey Farm invites you to step into the fascinating world of bees, learn about their vital role in the environment, and taste the pure flavours of the region through our local honeys.

Your experience begin with a warm welcome from a passionate beekeeper, followed by the chance to don a light protective veil and take a short stroll to view the hives up close. Along the way, learn how bees forage, communicate, and contribute to food production and biodiversity. After the hive visit, relax on the terrace overlooking peaceful gardens and rolling hills while enjoying a guided tasting of seasonal honeys—each one reflecting the unique floral sources of the Southern Highlands.

As part of the experience,  enjoy a lovely lunch of cut sandwiches and a fresh fruit platter, served in a relaxed, country setting that invites connection and conversation.

Bowral Honey Farm features a boutique honey shop. Visitors can browse and purchase a range of artisan honeys, handmade beeswax products, gifts, and local specialties to take a taste of the Highlands home with them.

Finish the day with some free time to explore the nearby Ngununggula Regional Gallery, featuring inspiring contemporary exhibitions.
