Tour Duration: 11 Days
Watch whales breach in Hervey Bay, discover the ancient dunes of K’gari, and take in the pristine sands of Whitehaven Beach — 11 days along Queensland’s most breathtaking coastline.
Your journey begins on the Sunshine Coast, with a first night’s dinner overlooking a tranquil lagoon. From there, you wind through the Blackall Ranges, taking in Glasshouse Mountain views, the boutique village of Montville and a lakeside lunch, before stepping into the world’s oldest silent movie theatre in Pomona and the whimsical Story Bank in Maryborough.
In Hervey Bay, you set out on a whale watching cruise as humpbacks migrate through the bay, then take the wheel for a 4WD adventure across K’gari — swimming at Lake McKenzie, cruising 75 Mile Beach and exploring the Maheno Shipwreck. Heading north, you sample fresh macadamias in Bundaberg before the coastline turns tropical in Airlie Beach, where you’ll spot crocodiles along the Proserpine River and roll through wetlands by wagon.
🚶 Activity Level: Easy to Moderate (Level 2)
This 11-day tour combines comfortable coach, boat and 4WD travel with light to moderate walking at key stops (up to 2–3 km on the busiest days). Most surfaces are sealed and even; two days include natural terrain — a 4WD exploration of K’gari and a stroll on Whitehaven Beach’s soft silica sand — both with optional, lower-activity alternatives available. Enclosed, supportive footwear is recommended throughout. Guests who use a walking aid can participate in most activities.
⚠️ Terrain Warnings — This Tour
- K’gari, Day 5 — Natural sand-track terrain across multiple stops (Lake McKenzie, 75 Mile Beach, Eli Creek, Maheno Shipwreck). Soft sand is more tiring underfoot than pavement even over short distances. Enclosed, supportive footwear recommended; guests can remain in the 4WD at stops if preferred.
- Whitehaven Beach, Day 10 — Seven kilometres of soft silica sand. The beach walk/swim is optional; guests can enjoy the view and shallows without a full stroll.
